Vietnam has introduced a special visa exemption aimed at encouraging foreign nationals who contribute significantly to the country’s socio-economic development. This move is designed to attract skilled professionals, investors, and influential figures from various sectors to boost the nation’s growth.
The updated policies seem to warmly accept high-ranking government officials and guests, scholars, scientists, experts in digital technology, senior executives, investors, even honorary consuls, and others who fall within criteria set forth by the Vietnamese government.

This initiative is not just aimed at tourists or regular business travelers. The target audience specifically includes individuals who are recognized as contributing to Vietnam’s progress in sectors such as science, technology, culture, and business. It allows people in these fields to enter Vietnam under a special visa, easing their travel for both business and tourism purposes. The government hopes to foster an environment that encourages global collaboration and economic growth.
Under this new policy, foreign nationals will enjoy multiple entry visas that are valid for up to five years, with each stay lasting up to 90 days. This provides flexibility for business professionals, scholars, and other eligible individuals to stay in the country without frequent visa renewals. The key point here is that this exemption is designed to facilitate ease of movement, reducing administrative hurdles and making it easier for individuals who are contributing to Vietnam’s socio-economic growth to focus on their work.

Submission of applications for skip visa processing are for the Vietnamese authorities or for prescribed organizations only. These authorities will sponsor visa applicants and ensure that the former satisfy the eligibility requirements. The period for the processing timelines is 3- 7 business days which is commendably short.
Visas are special permits with official immigration regulations. Special visas with more than sitting arrangements are considered to be issued on official migration of more than flying. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has appointed the Department of Civil Registration, Citizenship, and Migration to be in charge of the more than flying special visas.

The division will ensure that such permits will be available only to eligible flyers. In cases where permits are issued on flyers who do not meet such criteria, the Ministry is empowered to ensure that the permits are annulled. Hence the holders of the more than flying special visas are obliged to meet the terms and conditions as set.
Vietnam’s government has strategically designed this policy to attract individuals who can contribute to the country’s development. By easing the visa process for professionals, investors, and corporate leaders, Vietnam hopes to foster an ecosystem that supports technological innovation, cultural exchange, and business investment. This move is particularly significant as it demonstrates Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening its global presence and economic infrastructure by welcoming foreign expertise and investments.
The application process is relatively simple, but it requires potential candidates to be endorsed by relevant Vietnamese authorities. These authorities include various organizations or government bodies that support socio-economic development and have the authority to submit applications on behalf of foreign nationals.
The specific details of the application requirements have not yet been fully published. People interested in the application are encouraged to follow up with the Immigration Department of the Ministry Of Public Security. Currently, the time within which these applications have to be completed is very short. The applications take about three to seven working days which is considered quite short.
Vietnam has announced that more information will be made available regarding the application requirements for this new visa exemption policy. This will allow applicants to better understand the specific criteria that they must meet, as well as any necessary documentation they will need to provide. As this information becomes available, both potential applicants and the public will be informed through official channels.
